The Coffee Industry Corporation Ltd (CICL) has vacancies for the following Positions to be filled immediately by suitably qualified and highly motivated individuals.
Of the 6 Programs, CICL’s Key Program is the Regulatory and Compliance Program (RCP) which is the regulatory platform that is responsible for the coffee factory/mill licensing, quality control, export document facilitation and monitoring of certified coffees of the PNG coffee industry.

1. Assistant Quality Control Officers (x4) – for Goroka and Lae offices
Key Responsibilities:
a) Competently deliver contents as a trainer and must be able to attend to trainings with respect to your job requirements.
b) Enforcement of CICL guidelines, regulations, standards and policies. In this respect, be able to always enforce necessary regulations and policies under any circumstance with sound mind and judgment to the best interest of the coffee industry. This includes making decisions on coffees lodged for quality checks for exports or domestic market use.
c) Partnerships must be forged and be able to take the lead in initiating key partnerships leading to agreements or understandings between CICL and other relevant agencies.
d) Able to implement project activities or spearhead projects when assigned.
e) Administratively, be able to display administrative skills when given the opportunity to provide oversight and provide monitoring and evaluation when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
The Position requires a Degree in Food Technology or Chemistry or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution. The jobholder must be familiar with coffee quality assessment operations and must demonstrate certain amount of knowledge of coffee quality and grading. The jobholder must possess advanced written and verbal communications skills and must be a computer literate.
2. Quality Laboratory Assistants (x 2) – for Goroka and Lae offices
Key Responsibilities:
a) Assist the Coffee Inspectors for the efficient and cost-effective management and utilization of the laboratory consumables.
b) Assist in the assessment and cup-tasting operations through preparation of samples examination of physical defects in the coffee samples and advise of the defects.
c) Ensure that correct and accurate procedures are diligently followed to prepare and extract sample solutions that provide true and correct or consistent readouts, minimize waste of consumables and that all equipment and consumables are maintained in good and working conditions.
d) Receiving and logging samples in the manual Logbook as well as keep a backup file on the computer and arrange all samples systematically prepared for tasting according to set procedures.
e) Record accurately and clearly on the liquor and defect count findings on appropriate assessment forms and maintain recording system.
f) Make sure all laboratory equipment is clean and safely kept.
Minimum Requirement:
The position requires someone with Certificate or higher qualification in Food Technology or Chemistry or its equivalent. Certificate in Barista Training or sufficient hands-on experience is a bonus. The jobholder must be familiar with laboratory techniques via chemical analysis and knowledge and skills on the coffee quality assurance procedures and the current industry quality standards. The jobholder must possess advanced written and verbal communications skills.
3. Coffee Inspectors (x 3) – for Goroka and Hagen Offices
Key Responsibilities:
a) Conducting factory and warehouse inspections and monitoring
of quality and prices at marketing depots.
b) Ensure that the industry’s coffee quality and processing
equipment standards are maintained and adhered to at all times
by all industry operators.
c) Inspect all processing facilities and provide accurate reports
to management for use when considering and assessing
applications for processing, exporting and manufacturing
licences in a timely manner.
d) Implement and enforcing Cherry Trade Policy and other duties
as directed by Senior Coffee Inspector and Manager, Industry
Regulations in a timely manner.
Minimum Requirement:
The Position requires someone with a Degree in Tropical Agriculture or Business Management or Legal Studies or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution. The jobholder must be familiar with export operations and must demonstrate certain amount of knowledge of coffee quality standard. The jobholder must possess advanced written and verbal communications skills and must be a computer literate.
4. Assistant Export Officer (x 1) – Lae Office
Key Responsibilities:
a) Assist Coffee Export Documentation Officer in verifying
provisional entries meet CICL requirements.
b) Assist Coffee Export Documentation Officer collecting necessary
levies and other fees are collected and ensure any shipment is
certified for exports.
c) Assist Coffee Export Officer in entering data in CEDARS and
ensure clients documents are processed and released on time.
Minimum Requirement:
The Position requires someone with a Diploma in Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution. The jobholder must be familiar with export documentation operations and must demonstrate certain amount of knowledge of coffee quality and grading system with proficient experience in office management. The jobholder must possess advanced written and verbal communications skills with excellent client service courtesy and must be a computer literate.
