H.E Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae on behalf of the State, today executed a contract for the rehabilitation of the Coffee Export office in Lae, Morobe Province.
Coffee Industry Corporation Limited (CICL) Acting Chief Executive Officer Charles Dambui said the contract signing signifies the start of the long-awaited construction of the new coffee export building as the current one is over 30 years old.
Dambui said the office oversees operations in the area of contract registration, shipment notification, contract verification, physical coffee inspection, sampling, recording/logging, quality analysis, and certification for export and movement of coffee to the wharf for shipment.
“We are grateful for the support of the Government and our partners for ensuring right processes were followed to reach this stage.”
The National Executive Council has approved the awarding of the contract to Haom Builders, which will be fully funded by the National Government.
The contract valued at K10, 661, 008. 43, is between the State and Haom Builders, the contractor that will carry out the rehabilitation work of the Coffee Export Office for the CICL.
Mr Dambui and Haom Builders Managing Director Herman Anep signed the contract at Government House this morning.
